3D Cameras Displayed at the World’s Largest Broadcasting Equipment Exhibition

* NHK Cosmo Media America was an exhibitor at NAB SHOW, the world’s largest annual broadcasting equipment exhibition held in Las Vegas this April.

We set up a booth in the main hall, and a camera that films 3D images and that is currently attracting the most interest in the broadcasting industry was displayed, receiving much attention.

On top of having superior mobility compared to other companies’ 3D cameras, it can carry out all of the functions necessary for program production such as editing filmed images and adding narration.  Even in America there are actually very few companies that have assembled these kinds of fixtures.  During the exhibit period from April 12-15, there was an endless stream of visitors by our camera and in front of the monitor where you could enjoy 3D images.  The 1000 pairs of 3D glasses and 1000 brochures that had been prepared were mostly gone by the last day.*

Starting with representatives from large American television networks and movie production companies, broadcast related people from over 20 countries passionately asked questions, and for the most part our staff was on their feet throughout the four day period answering them.

Over 200 parties provided their business cards in order to carry out concrete business negotiations, and in some cases detailed filming schedules are already being coordinated.

This was an event where you could really sense the suddenly increasing demand for 3D content, along with the simultaneous start of 3D specialized channels in places like Japan, Korea and America, home of the huge 3D movie hit Avatar.
