We participated in Team Summit, a convention for DISH Network agents, held this year May 10-14 in San Antonio, Texas. DISH Network agents as well as related vendors and all affiliate programmers from all over the country gather at this event. Starting with America’s representative major networks and popular movie channels, a variety of booths livened up the venue. The primary purpose of this annual convention is to have presentations on DISH Network’s technology, services, programs and marketing for agents who assemble from all across the States.
During the convention, the main attraction was the newly introduced receiver, Vip922. Via the iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android and similar mobile devices or personal computers, this sling loaded receiver provides a service which allows television program viewing without being bound by time and place. It has ample superior functions that of course enable viewing of DISH Network’s live programs and programs that have been recorded into DVR, but also make possible recording programs by remote access treasure. The Vip922 was the focus of the attention of all 3000 participants. In addition, a basic HD channel package provided at no extra cost and a 3D channel to be offered in the near future were introduced, also drawing an enthusiastic response from the crowd.
We as TV JAPAN had a strong showing as well as one of their international programming. At the International programmers’ Pavilion which included TV JAPAN, while performances from each country were being presented, at the booths inside the pavilion everyone appealed for their own channels. TV JAPAN also met with many retailers and promoted its channel.
The world’s largest broadcasting equipment exhibition NAB SHOW took place from April 10-15. As expected, attendees had the most interest in 3D related displays. In the main venue Central Hall, all of the major Japanese manufacturers’ booths were dominated by 3D products. Of course there were cameras for 3D filming, but booths here and there displayed 3D gadgets other than cameras. The 3D Pavilion, a corner where booths featuring 3D related devices were gathered, was overflowing with visitors.
The 3D camera shown at our company’s booth was also visited by a large number of people. Their knowledge of 3D was greater than we anticipated, and left an impression. I thought that this also was an expression of how the interest in 3D is increasing.
By the way, NAB SHOW attendees are overwhelmingly male. I feel like the program lineup for the 3D specialty channel that starts broadcasting this summer also includes lots of sports, movies and other content that appeals to this gender. It goes without saying that content for men is a pull factor in the spread of media, but perhaps there is also a need to develop programs for women. This is because no matter how you look at it, they are the ones who make the decisions to provide money to buy the televisions on which 3D images can by enjoyed. Or is that just the case at my house? We are pleased to announce that, as of April 1, 2010, NHK Enterprises America, Inc. (NEPA) will merge with Japan Network Group, Inc (JNG), a broadcasting company offering the premium Japanese TV network “TV JAPAN” throughout North America. Once the merger is complete, the two companies will be known as NHK Cosmomedia America, Inc. (NHKCMA).

While her big sister NEPA K2 broadcast the New Orleans Saint's historic victory at the 44th NFL Super Bowl in Florida, our second live-event mobile HD digital TV production truck, the NEPA K3 RUBY is currently busy in Vancouver, British Columbia covering the 21st Winter Olympic Games.
The 40 ft K3 RUBY and her crack sports production team are usually kept busy throughout the baseball season covering MLB games up and down the east coast. This year, however, from February 12th to 28th K3 RUBY gets to venture out of her usual winter repose and hit the Canadian ski slopes.
Hosting a delegation from the Japan Consortium (JC), K3 Ruby is sending a live broadcast feed to multiple TV channels throughout Japan capturing and conveying all the winter sports action as 97 nations compete for gold. Stay tuned for more reports & updates & highlights from BC.
The road to NFL’s 44th Super Bowl was end at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida on Feb 7, 2010 and NEPA’s fully-equipped behemoth broadcast truck, the NEPA K2 was right there to captured every yard gained, every snap & throw, every rush & pass, every sack & tackle, and every touch-down dance. Not to mention the widely anticipated half-time show by England’s legendary guitar-smashing rock band The Who.

With TV broadcasters, satellite & cable providers, movie studios, and content producers lining-up behind the world’s major electronic manufactures, 2010 is being hailed as “The Year of 3D” and the beginning of the 3D HDTV revolution.
Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, JVC, Sharp, Mitsubishi, LG, and Samsung will all offer a variety of 3D HD ready TVs, 3D Blu-ray players and 3D Blu-ray Disc available in stores this year. LG alone, aims to sell 400,000 3DTVs in 2010 and 3.4 million by 2011.
ESPN, Discovery Communications, DirectTV, UK’s BSkyB, Korea’s SkyLife and Japan’s cabler Jupiter telecommunications have also climbed on the bandwagon announcing 3D HD channels and services in the next few months. One of the earliest programs, ESPN’s coverage of the World Cup Soccer match between South African & Mexico, is due to air in June.
Meanwhile Hollywood studios are promising a bumper year of 3D movies with 30+ new releases set for this year. To keep the 3D express train rolling, industry experts say that over 45% of digital cinema screens worldwide are now equipped for stereoscopic presentations.

Thanks to ADK America & The Times Square Alliance, our crew managed to score an awesome camera position on the 4th floor terrace of the Renaissance Hotel, giving them a prefect shot right down Broadway to the One Times Square building and the giant Waterford crystal ball. Braving the rain, snow and sleet our fearless team captured all the countdown the action; as the great ball dropped, fireworks exploded, and two tons of confetti rained down, hundreds of thousands of revelers in huge hats and oversized 2010 glasses welcomed in the New Year - all in eye-popping full 3DHD!
